First Attempt at Landscapes in UE4

This was my first attempt at using UE4 to complete an assignment. I was really amazed how logical Unreal Engine was to use as a total beginner, and I took a great interest in trying to learn lighting and atmospherics to achieve the look I wanted. I will definitely take this up in my spare time!

I started off playing with a load of texture variations off Quixel Bridge and tried to find various types which blended well together. This then kind of evolved in trying to create some sort of Martian looking landscape with atmospheric fog and God Rays. I really enjoyed this assignment and had many late nights trying to cram in as much learning time as possible.

Here I was testing Niagara particle systems for creating isolated fog patches. I coloured it blue to make it distinguishable from the standard height fog.

No Martian landscape should be complete without a Monolith being present.

This was my initial test scene where I was experimenting with blending different textures together, with accompanying vegetation and rock types which complemented the scene.
